Air India Passenger Data Stolen

Data of more than 4.5 million Air India passengers have been stolen by hackers. These data include passengers' credit card numbers, names and passport information from August 2011 onwards.

Air India is India's national airline and is a member of world-renowned airline alliance, Star Alliance. Founded on 15 October 1932 as Tata Airlines, Air India is one of the oldest airlines in the world.

Here is a statement by Air India regarding the incident:

"We deeply regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate continued support and trust of our passengers"

However, this is not the first time this is happening as airlines such as British Airways and Cathay Pacific have been fined thousands of dollars from data breaches in previous years.
