It seems as if the Airbus A380 is getting popular again, with major carriers like British Airways welcoming it back into their active fleet. Qatar Airways, who once said that the Airbus A380 was "the company's biggest mistake", has decided to bring back the aircraft. This is due to the fact that COVID-19 restrictions are easing all around the world, increasing the demand of passengers going on vacation.
In March last year, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Qatar Airways grounded their whole A380 fleet of 10 aircraft. Now, after one and a half years, the airline has decided to resume operations with the aircraft. This comes as a huge surprise as Qatar Airways once said that the A380 was a model of the past, and they had lost faith in it. Then, it seemed as if the plane would not fly for a long time, or would be sent to scrap.
Some A380 services have already been scheduled for the end of this year, between Doha and Paris or London.
Are you shocked at the fact that Qatar is bringing back the A380s earlier than expected?
