Some of you already know about Baltia. The infamous airline that has not had a flight in 3 decades! Well, for the 90% who don't know what Baltia airline is, this article is for you:
The year was 1989 and Igor Dmitrowsky decided to start an airline. It was to be the first-ever airline that had direct flights from New York City to Leningrad (present-day St Petersburg)! At first, everything was going fine. They bought 2 former Cathay-Pacific Boeing 747s and they were awaiting certification. By then, the word already spread, and people were excited but even after years, they had not been certified. They were disappointed. They had lost lots of money and had no choice but to sell one of their Boeing 747s and sold their other airplane shortly after.
After almost all hope given up and almost all investors gone, they did not give up but instead persevered. In July 2017, they announced major restructuring plans but they will not be flying to St Petersburg anymore but instead be flying to smaller destinations near their new base in Stewart International Airport but the problem was that they could not do it alone. They then decided to buy over a smaller airline called Songbird Airways to form USGlobal Airways and until now, they have still not been certified.
Do you think that USGlobal Airways has a future?
