Many of us know about Berlin's Brandenburg Airport. It was built as a replacement for Berlin Tegel and Schonefeld airport as they both are worse rated than nearby prisons. Brandenburg airport started construction in 2006 and these were due to poor construction planning, execution, management, as well as corruption.planned for opening in 2011 but the airport faced many delays in construction and cost overruns. These were due to poor construction planning, execution, management, as well as corruption. Finally, 30 days before a delayed opening was planned, a fire alarm test was done to simulate how will the airport fire suppression system respond to such an emergency but unfortunately, it was faulty. After fixing, they found more problems, and the opening day is getting delayed and delayed all over again until, at one point, they were scared to let the construction workers inside. This airport was even closer to demolition after AirBerlin became bankrupt in 2017 as Brandenburg Airport was supposed to be a big connecting hub but without AirBerlin, there would be no airline to connect to. After a few months, with no way to recover AirBerlin, Brandenburg Airport was just a 4.1 billion dollar airport in the middle of the city waiting to be demolished but finally, a miracle happened. All the broken parts of the airport have been fixed and Easyjet and RyanAir have both agreed to have a lot of flights to the airport. While it is probably not going to be a big connecting hub as planned to be. Just today, it has been announced that Berlin Brandenburg airport will open in October this year as moving preparations are going on right now but of course, this may not happen and it could be like the 2011 supposed opening.
Do you think that Berlin Brandenburg Airport will actually open?
