As sad as it may seem, the first major air crash of 2021 has happened.

Sriwijaya Air flight SJ182 from Jakarta, Indonesia to Pontianak, Indonesia has crashed shortly after departure.
The aircraft in question is a Boeing 737-500 with registration PK-CLC and is 26.7 years old and entered Sriwijaya Air's fleet in May 2012.
There was a total of 46 passengers onboard including 7 children, 3 babies and 6 flight crew.

Flight SJ182 started descending rapidly from 10000 feet, for no reason at all

Flight SJ182 went off radar at 250 feet and probably crashed
Witness recounts:
"I heard very loud explosion. I thought it was a bomb or a big thunder. We then saw the big wave, about 2 meters high, hitting our boat,"- Hendrik Mulyadi, local fisherman
"It was like a bomb on the water."- Solihin, local fisherman
The two fishermen did not see the airplane crash but went back to shore to report to the local police after smelling jet fuel nearby.

A statement from the airline:
"We confirm that flight SJ-182 from Jakarta to Pontianak has disappeared today, January 9, 2021 at 14:40 WIB.
Our aircraft has 6 crew members onboard. The details of the passengers on flight SJ-182 are 40 adults, 7 children and 3 babies as passengers.
Our prayers go out to all our passengers and crew and their families.
Until now, we will continue to coordinate with the relevant authorities and provide all the support that was established.

Wreckage:
Three pieces of wreckage and both black boxes has been found so far:
The first piece of wreckage was found shortly after the crash by local fishermen and is a bunch of tangled wires, together with a small piece of jeans.
The second piece of wreckage was found by local authorities and is a bunch of white tape or wires together with a few body parts.
The third piece of wreckage is an emergency evacuate slide found on the coast of a nearby island. No pictures of it is available at the moment.
Both black boxes have also been located by divers.
Investigations are still ongoing and the main fuselage of the airplane has not been found.
