British Airways To Continue Operating The Airbus A380

When all hope was lost for the Airbus A380, British Airways came in and confirmed that their Airbus A380s will return back into service earlier than expected, in November, after being in storage since March last year. This comes as a surprise as after the retirement of their Boeing 747s, it seemed as if the airline had given up flying four-engined aircraft.

The aircraft will start operating in Los Angeles, Miami and Dubai starting November, following the announcement that vaccinated citizens will be able to fly transatlantic starting next month onwards. However, not all of British Airways' A380s will return. Initially, only four of the type will begin service in November, and more will be put into service once demand increases.

Here is a statement from Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Director of Network and Alliances:

"This is an exciting time for British Airways and our customers as we see borders re-opening. With welcome news from the US, we are dramatically increasing flights and bringing home some of our A380s to give our customers as many options as possible. Elsewhere across our network we are also adding additional services to destinations all over the world, to ensure our customers can take advantage of a much-needed holiday."

Are you excited for the return of the A380?
