Earlier, Korean Air operated its longest non-stop flight ever since its establishment in 1969. This happened despite the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on aviation.
The flight (KE8047) took off from Seoul Incheon Airport at 9.14 pm local time and landed at Miami Airport after 14 hours and 42 minutes, making it the longest flight that Korean Air has ever operated. Previously, the longest flight they operated was from Seoul to Atlanta, clocking in at 13 hours and 50 minutes. The new longest flight was operated by HL8218, a 9.6-year-old Boeing 777-300, which was converted into a freighter by Korean Air.
