Singapore Airlines Scraps 3 Aircraft Locally, Including two Airbus A380s

5 October 2021, 11.30 PM Local Time | Singaporean Carrier, Singapore Airlines, sends 3 aircraft through a public road to Changi Exhibition Centre to be scrapped locally, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a rather unusual sight for many planespotters as superjumbos, such as the A380 rarely go on public roads. However sad the reality may seem, the biggest commercial jet, the A380 has met its demise. Due to its inefficiency amidst this ongoing pandemic, it has failed to garner popularity. Alongside the scrapping of the two A380s yesterday was a Boeing 777.

At 11 PM local time in Singapore yesterday, the stretch of road from Singapore's Changi International Airport to Changi Exhibition Centre, was stripped of its lamposts to cater to the superjumbos that later travelled down the stretch half an hour after. The first of the A380s were 9V-SKH, followed by 9V-SKG. 9V-SKH was a 12.8-year-old A380-800 and was delivered in May 2009. 9V-SKG was a 12.9-year-old A380-800 that was delivered in June 2009.
