Due to the rising COVID-19 unlinked cases in Singapore, the Singapore-Hong Kong Travel Bubble has been delayed once again. The travel bubble would allow quarantine-free travel between Hong Kong and Singapore. Despite Hong Kong having the green light for this travel bubble as they have low transmission in the community, Singapore has the opposite with more than twice the number of cases reported this month as compared to last month. Both countries decided to compromise and delay the bubble. Originally slated for 22 November last year, the travel bubble was delayed till 26 May and is now getting delayed again until COVID-19 cases in Singapore reduces.

Many are very disappointed with this news as hundreds of tickets had already been sold for this travel bubble. However, a few days ago, there was speculation that the bubble would be delayed once more as both Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific stopped selling tickets. So, most were already prepared for this news. Nonetheless, those who need to go to either city urgently may fly on non-air travel bubble flights, while others will have their tickets delayed until the travel bubble opens.

Surprisingly, despite the news about the travel bubble being delayed, Singapore Airlines' shares have risen by 2.89% to $4.63 SGD!
