A few months ago, French carrier Air France, Total Petroleum Group, Paris Airport Group and Airbus came together to find a way to operate a long-haul flight using only sustainable fuel. After a while of discussions, it was decided that a mixture of used cooking oil, waste and residues would be used to operate the flight that would depart on 18 May 2021 at 2.30 pm UTC.
So, earlier today, the world's first long-haul flight that operated on Sustainable Fuel only departed Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport bound for Montreal. This brings us one step closer to the future of sustainable aviation. The flight was operated by an Airbus A350-900 with registration F-HTYD. The aircraft was delivered a year ago to Air France and is named after the city of "Nice" in France.
Do you think that the future of aviation is sustainable fuel?
