The future of Supersonic air travel - Boom Overture

After the Concorde's unfortunate failure, most of us just gave up and said that Supersonic travel will never be a thing in the next 10-20 years or till future advanced technologies are available but one company, Boom Technology, is willing to change that.

The Boom Overture is one of Boom's projects. It is a 55 passenger Supersonic commercial airplane with 4,550nmi of range, a delta wing like the late Concorde, built out of composite materials which make the plane more fuel efficient and is powered by 3 turbofan engines. This airplane is set to be introduced in 2027 after a 5 year delay followed by numerous other delays so do expect it actually entering into service in the early 2030s.

Now, the big question is: Will this airplane fail like the Concorde? My answer to that is simple Probably not. Why you ask? This Boom Overture is faster than the Concorde, has higher efficiency as its fuselage is made using composite materials, as I wrote earlier AND it does not have a sonic boom which was one of the biggest problems with the Concorde and the Soviet's short lived TU-144! It also has 4x lower flight prices compared to the Concorde but still, it has a chance to fail, which I personally hope does not happen.

Are you looking forward to the return of supersonic flight?
