The world's shortest flight!

Ever wondered whats the world's shortest flight? If you do, this article is for you!

The world's shortest flight is a small island-hop airplane 'bus' service that travels between Papa Westray and Westray, which are small islands part of the Orkney Islands in Scotland. the route is operated by Loganair and it only takes a mere 2 minutes, making it the world's shortest scheduled commercial flight ever!

The route started in 1967 as a short service to bring people from Papa Westray to Westray to work or go to school. The fastest ever flight performed on this route happened in 2013 when Pilot Stuart Linklater set the record of 53 seconds!

Now you may ask, is this route a waste of money? No. This route is essential for the residents in Papa Westray as they need to go to Westray to work or go to school because Papa Westray is small and not big enough to have enough jobs or schools for everyone and taking a boat ride will take at least an hour.

Also, as a small token for flying on the world's shortest flight, they sometimes give certificates to tourists or avgeeks like us!

If you could, would you fly on this flight?
