Most of us know that the Airbus A380 is being retired way faster than the Boeing 747 but, some of you were asking: Why is it so?
Here are the reasons that led the A380 to its demise faster than the B747.
1: Airbus released it at the wrong time.
When the Boeing 747 came out, fuel prices were very low, making it somewhat affordable for airlines to operate while the Airbus A380 came out directly after the global oil crisis, when fuel prices skyrocketed, making it very inefficient for airlines to operate.

2: It was WAY too big
The Airbus A380 is way too big. It is almost impossible for airlines to fill up a whole A380 on non-high demand routes, which decreases the airline's revenue. The 747 is more than half a deck smaller, which makes it possible to operate on lower demand routes and the smallest 747 variant, the 747SP, is small enough for very low demand regional routes.

3: Covid-19
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic was a major blow to the aviation industry, many airlines are retiring their 4 engine jets because there is no demand earlier than expected and reducing their orders, causing Airbus to end production for its A380s. However, the Boeing 747 is also getting hit by this, with its production ending in a few years of time and airlines retiring the superjumbo.
