Wizz Air Stops Flights To Norway

Hungarian budget airline, Wizz Air to stop all domestic flights within Norway and cancels multiple international flights to Norway starting June 14th, less than 12 months since the routes were launched. The reason why these flights were stopped is due to financial and commercial assessments. Other than that, Wizz Air also claims that they had unfair state aid as all other airlines received financial assistance due to COVID-19, but they did not. However, many do not agree this is the real reason why Wizz Air is leaving Norway. Some think that the real reason is due to new competition. As Norwegian Air finally came out of bankruptcy and new startup airlines, such as Flyr, start forming in Norway, it is highly likely that Wizz Air will lose market share.

Despite the closure of the routes from Oslo to Bergen, Trondheim and Tromso, Wizz Air will still operate some international flights to Norway such as routes to Gdansk, Tallin and Riga.

Do you think this was the right move for Wizz Air?
